Gunter Noris – King of Dance Music Vol.8

The first four selections make Volume 8 distinctive within King of Dance Music: May I Have This Dance, Melancholy Waltz, Melody of Love and Memories of Paris are all labelled English Waltz. Customers looking for several alternatives within that category can begin with a clearly identified group rather than work through an album that changes rhythm after every track.

The programme then opens out. Midnight in Cuba, Midnight Rendezvous, Montana Melody, Moonlight and Moonlight Magic provide recurring Rumba choices. Midnight Serenade, Moonlight Fantasy and the closing Once Upon a Time are Slow Fox. Missing You carries the separate label Slow Swing, while Moonlight Serenade is simply Slow; those source distinctions are preserved instead of treating every slower selection as a Foxtrot.

There is also material for a more varied session. Miami Holiday and Narcissus Jive bring in Jive, Moliendo Cafe and Night Fever supply Samba, and Night in Granada is Paso Doble. New Year's Waltz is Viennese Waltz, contrasting with the opening English Waltz group and the later Nightingale Waltz. Mountain Rock adds Rock'n Roll and Old-Fashioned Romance adds Foxtrot. The collection's practical value is this balance of several recurring ballroom categories with occasional changes of rhythm, supported by a complete ordered list of all twenty-three selections.
