Somewhere in Time by Tony Evans and His Orchestra is a 14-track ballroom dance music album combining International Latin and Standard rhythms in one varied collection. The program includes Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble, Jive, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, and Viennese Waltz, giving dancers music for all ten International dances.
The album opens with two Cha Cha selections, C’est Si Bon and My Destiny, before moving into Rumba with an extended Rumba Medley and Aria. The Latin section continues with the Samba medley Hey / Yours, followed by La Seine for Paso Doble and Midnight in Moscow for Jive.
The Standard repertoire begins with two Quicksteps, All My Loving and It Might as Well Rain Until September. These are followed by the Foxtrots C’est Magnifique and the title track Somewhere in Time.
The final section adds three contrasting Standard rhythms: Thornbirds (Love Theme) for Waltz, Annientamento for Tango, and Strauss Medley for Viennese Waltz.
Because every International dance is represented, Somewhere in Time works particularly well as a mixed ballroom practice album. Rather than concentrating on a single rhythm, dancers and teachers can use the collection for Standard and Latin practice rounds, lessons, choreography work, partner training, and social dancing.
