Tony Evans – Killing Me Softly

Killing Me Softly by Tony Evans and His Orchestra is an 18-track ballroom and Latin dance music album covering a broad selection of International Standard and Latin rhythms. The program includes Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha Cha, Samba, Jive, and Paso Doble, making it a versatile collection for dancers, teachers, and studios.

Released in 2006, the album runs approximately 50 minutes and organizes familiar melodies into clearly identified ballroom rhythms.

The Standard section begins with Snowbird and It’s Alright with Me for Quickstep, followed by Stranger in the Night and Bye-Bye Blues for Foxtrot. Waltz dancers receive Mexicali Rose and My Way, while 24 Hours from Tulsa and Dance Ballerina Dance are arranged for Tango. The collection also includes two Viennese Waltzes: Domino and It’s a Big Wide Wonderful World.

The second half shifts toward International Latin. The title track Killing Me Softly and Somewhere in Time are presented as Rumbas, followed by Il Silenzio and Cocktails for Two for Cha Cha. Tristezza provides the Samba selection, while two Jives and Trumpet Fiesta for Paso Doble complete the program.

One of the strengths of Killing Me Softly is its coverage of all ten International Ballroom and Latin dances within a single album. Rather than concentrating on only one rhythm, it provides music for a complete mixed practice session, ballroom lesson, or social dance program.
