The Best of Latin Music Vol.11 – The Challenge

The Challenge gives each of its four Latin dance sections a distinct selection of voices. Thalia’s De Donde Soy and Mujer Latina feature in the opening Samba group, alongside Kebrasamba’s Treiteira and Franco’s Soy. The programme then moves to Cha Cha Cha with Paloma San Basilio, Pandora and Bo Katzman, introducing a different set of songs before the longer Rumba section.

Rumba takes the largest share of this sixteen-track album. Pandora’s Que Sabes De Amor sits alongside Regresa by Millie and Soy Como Soy by Tierra Seca. Paloma San Basilio returns with Pacto De Amor, while Angela Carrasco’s Eres Fuego completes the group. Customers looking specifically for Rumba repertoire can compare five recordings in one consecutive section rather than searching through a mixed running order.

The closing Jives bring in Racey twice, with Runaround Sue and Lay Your Cards On The Table, separated by The Other Ones’ Another Holiday and Paul Carrack’s Battlefield. This change of performers gives the final part a character of its own.
