“Shaping in Promenade” is a 49-minute American Smooth and International Standard technique masterclass led by Marzena Stachura and Slawek Sochacki.
This program focuses on one of the most technically sensitive elements in ballroom dancing: how the body creates and maintains shape while moving through promenade position. Instead of focusing on choreography, the lesson examines the physical principles behind body line creation and control.
The instructors break down how elite dancers manage rotation, upper body alignment, and balance while maintaining continuity of movement. Special attention is given to how shape is generated from the center of the body rather than from isolated arm or head movement.
The goal of this training is to help dancers achieve a clean, stable, and functional shape that can be maintained under competition pressure without breaking posture or disrupting balance.
🎯 CORE TECHNICAL FOCUS
- Mechanics of shaping in promenade position
- Coordination between spine, ribcage, and torso rotation
- Head position and directional shaping control
- Frame stability during asymmetrical movement
- Balance management while transitioning in and out of promenade
⭐ WHY THIS PROGRAM IS IMPORTANT
Promenade is often visually emphasized but technically misunderstood. Many dancers create shape visually without maintaining structural support, leading to collapsed frames or loss of balance during movement.
This masterclass addresses the underlying mechanics that allow shape to remain both aesthetic and physically sustainable during travel and rotation.
