Product Description
Merry Christmas by Tony Evans & His Orchestra is a twelve-track instrumental album first released in 1984. It arranges seasonal favourites for a range of ballroom and Latin dances, giving dancers Christmas music with specific rhythm labels rather than a general holiday listening compilation.
The programme opens with two quicksteps, Sleigh Ride and Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, followed by White Christmas and Winter Wonderland as slowfox selections. Silent Night and When a Child Is Born form the slow-waltz pair. This sequence offers several familiar festive choices within the Standard dance repertoire.
The Latin portion includes Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus as cha cha selections, followed by The Christmas Song and Merry Christmas Darling as rumbas. Jingle Bells supplies the samba, and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree closes the album as a jive. All twelve source recordings are identified as instrumental orchestral music.
For a seasonal practice session or social event, the album offers recognisable tunes while making the dance category and playing time visible for each selection. Its orchestral presentation also suits listeners looking for Christmas dance arrangements without vocals. The ordered track list preserves the supplied titles and notation, including the original wording of the source entries, so each recording remains identifiable.
