Ballroom Pops

Ballroom Pops is a 2008 Standard dance collection credited jointly to Tanzorchester Klaus Hallen and Orchestra Alec Medina. Its 41-track programme is grouped as nine slow waltzes, five tangos, seven Viennese waltzes, ten slowfox selections and ten quicksteps. This gives dancers a substantial choice across all five Standard dances.

The opening Run to You from The Bodyguard and Childhood are explicitly identified as show versions. Featured names in the slow-waltz group include Claudia Streza, Dennis Delano, William Jansen, Peter Douglas and Brigitte Nijman. Spanish- and Italian-language selections appear alongside English vocals, while the tango group also includes the Turkish Her Bahar.

The Viennese waltzes include I Have Nothing, Sous les Ponts de Paris, Das Spiel and Hijo de la Luna. The slowfox programme brings together popular songs, swing and soundtrack material, with further featured credits including Gaby Goldberg, Peter Bauchwitz, Vio Friedmann and Sandy Kandau. Quickstep selections then close the main programme, ending with the instrumental Up to Date from Das Aktuelle Sportstudio.

For a ballroom music library, the mix of orchestras, vocalists and languages helps distinguish one selection from another within the same rhythm. Dance, tempo, style and duration are shown for each recording, with the show-version wording retained. The complete programme remains in its original sequence, providing music for practice planning or social dance selection.
