Secret Garden opens The Best of Ballroom Music – Part 12 with Lotus and returns later in the Slow Waltz section with Sleepsong. Russell Watson, Ronan Hardiman, the Rosenberg Trio, Boyzone and Ella Fitzgerald contribute to an opening group that offers several alternatives to a single orchestral sound. That range makes the collection interesting for dancers who want to vary the musical setting while staying with the same dance.
Tango follows with recordings by Stanley Black and Malando, before the programme moves into Viennese Waltz. In the Slow Foxtrot section, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong appear together on Love Is Here to Stay, alongside B.B. King and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The different performer combinations give this part of the album its own vocal and ensemble character.
