Rock City (Non-Stop Mix)

Rock City (Non-Stop Mix) is a 1997 Dancelife Studio Orchestra collection with 24 edited dance recordings. The repertoire combines jive, rock and roll and boogie woogie selections, with pop, soul and rhythm-and-blues styles identified where supplied. Most tracks have English vocals, with instrumental soundtrack themes included.

Whoops Now opens the programme, followed by Heartache Tonight, Perfect, Baby Love and Lido Shuffle. The middle of the collection includes Knock on Wood, Look at That Cadillac, Baby Likes to Rock It and Heatwave. Daddy Cool / The Girl Can’t Help It is presented as one combined rock-and-roll entry rather than two separate tracks.

The original version labels distinguish edits, short versions and live recordings. Pick a Bale of Cotton and Hello Mary Lou carry live-version wording, while the instrumental themes from Hawaii Five-O and James Bond’s Dr. No give the programme soundtrack choices. Get Out of Your Lazy Bed and Who’s That Man close as boogie woogie selections.

The listed tempo values cover a wide range, with dance designations retained for each recording. This lets a dancer select a particular rhythm and version within the mixed programme. All 24 individual entries and their durations are preserved; the Non-Stop Mix title does not establish whether the supplied digital package is one continuous file or separate recordings.
