Jive Party Vol.8

Flip Flop Bop by Floyd Cramer and Cracked Ice by Earl Bostic are two distinctive artist-song connections in Jive Party Vol. 8. Louis Prima contributes Absent Minded Lover, while Red Prysock is credited with Fruit Boots. The volume contains 25 selections, giving customers a substantial repertoire to browse within the series.

Bobby Hendricks’ Molly Be Good appears in the first half, followed by entries from Pat Patton, Eddie Cooley and Henry Wilson. Sonny James’s Let’s Play Love comes later. These individual credits make the programme useful for customers seeking a particular performer, as well as dancers interested in trying selections they may not already have in their practice playlist.

The final stretch includes Piano Red’s Wild Fire, the Hollywood Flames’ A Little Bird and Moon Mullican’s Moons Rock. Steve Lawrence’s Chicken and the Hawk and Freddie Hart’s Dig Boy Dig lead towards the closing Baby Oh Baby by the Clovers. This combination of solo artists and groups gives the volume several musical reference points. Teachers and partners can audition the selections to choose accompaniment for their own Jive sessions. The 2014 catalogue date refers to the collection rather than each song’s original recording year.
