Flavour of Latin presents the choreography and performance ideas of professional Latin dancers Sergey Surkov & Melia, featuring twelve progressive routines across Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, and Paso Doble.
Each dance is presented at three levels—Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced—showing how familiar figures can develop into more intricate combinations. The routines are demonstrated from two directions, with timing explanations to help dancers follow the sequences and understand their musical structure.
Four Dances, Distinctive Choreography
The Cha Cha Cha material explores rhythmic variations, lock steps, hip twists, and syncopated actions. Samba develops flowing combinations using Bota Fogos, Cruzados, Voltas, and changes of position.
In Rumba, the emphasis shifts to controlled movement, partner interaction, Alemanas, hip actions, and expressive transitions. Paso Doble introduces dynamic combinations featuring Chassés, Twist Turns, Pivots, and dramatic shaping lines.
The progression from Basic to Advanced provides useful examples of how established Latin figures can be adapted and connected into more elaborate choreography.
A Practical Reference for Latin Dancers and Teachers
Rather than focusing on isolated steps, Flavour of Latin demonstrates how figures work together within complete combinations. Dancers can study the timing, transitions, and partnering, while teachers and coaches can draw on the material when developing lessons or routines.
With 57 minutes of choreography demonstrations and timing explanations, this program offers a focused source of ideas for competitive Latin dancers, instructors, and students looking to broaden their choreographic repertoire.
