Feel The Latin Rhythm is a unique educational program that explores the direct relationship between music and movement in International Latin dancing. Based on the acclaimed book “Dancing is Music” by Udo Schmidt, this instructional video helps dancers, teachers, coaches, and adjudicators understand how rhythm influences movement and how musical awareness can transform dance performance.
Presented by Udo Schmidt, a Graduate Master Coach and Certified A-Level Dance Sport Coach, the program introduces the percussion instruments and rhythmic structures that form the foundation of all five International Latin dances. Demonstrations are performed by Martin Dihlmann & Lydia Dihlmann-Weißer, finalists in the World Professional Latin Show Dance Championships.
Rather than focusing on choreography, this program develops a deeper understanding of timing, accents, body movement, weight transfer, dynamics, energy, and musical interpretation. By learning to recognize and physically express the rhythms within the music, dancers can create a stronger connection between technique, movement, and performance.
