Ross Mitchell – Gold Latin

Product Description

A generous Rumba section distinguishes Gold Latin within a thirty-one-track programme covering the five International Latin dance categories. The album opens with eight Cha Cha selections, including Sway, Tea For Two and Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams, before turning to seven Sambas. Quand Tu Chantes, Brazil and Bamboleo illustrate the variety of melodies used within that second group.

Nine Rumbas then create an extended central section. Their repertoire includes All I Ask Of You, the Moonlighting Theme, If I Loved You and I Won't Send Roses, placing stage and screen-related songs alongside other familiar material. For a dancer concentrating on Rumba, that range offers several musical choices before moving to another category. The following Spanish Gipsy Dance and La Corrida are identified as Paso Doble in the matching dance-music catalogue, and the album finishes with five Jives, including Reet Petite, Wake Up Little Susie and Trickle Trickle.

Ross Mitchell's collection therefore works both as a broad Latin music reference and as a source of alternatives for a particular dance. The original thirty-one titles and their order are kept intact below; the verified dance grouping adds a useful route through a source list that originally supplied titles alone. That organisation is helpful when the priority is a particular dance rather than a particular song.
