Richard Alden – Moonlight Cocktail

Product Description

Although Richard Alden appears in the product title, Moonlight Cocktail contains a wider selection of credited musicians. Skylark and the title track pair Alden with the Romantic Strings Orchestra, while other entries name Ronnie Aldrich, Douglas Gamley, Bob Docker and several further performers. This makes the collection useful for customers who prefer to choose a recording by its musical personnel rather than by the song title alone.

The listed combinations are particularly interesting for piano listeners. Dennis Wilson's Cocktail Piano with the Rhythm Quintet contributes East of the Sun and I'll Remember April; Dick James and Jack Phillips are credited on twin-piano selections including You Stepped out of a Dream and Lullaby of the Leaves. The Alan Clare Duo supplies When I Fall in Love and the closing Moonlight in Vermont / La Ville Endormie. Simon Chamberlain with Nick Ingman's orchestra and Dominique Chatelain's piano-and-orchestra entries add further variety.

The programme also includes Watch What Happens, explicitly associated in the source with The Umbrellas of Cherbourg / Les Parapluies De Cherbourg. That full title information is retained alongside the recording credit. Classified by NiceDancing as Standard, with vocal and instrumental material, the collection offers a repertoire-led listening choice; individual ballroom rhythms are not invented for tracks that have no supplied dance label.
