Product Description
A rumba session need not rely on one musical mood. Gold Star Ballroom – Rumba brings together eighteen recordings by the Gold Star Ballroom Orchestra, moving between familiar pop melodies, film themes and Latin song titles while keeping the programme devoted to rumba. Its mix of vocal and instrumental music gives dancers several ways to approach the same dance.
Babe opens the selection, followed by Chan-Chan and Falling Into You. Goldfinger, Johnny Guitar, License To Kill and Take My Breath Away give the programme a film-music thread; Here, There, Everywhere and Killing Me Softly offer another route into well-known melodic material. Abrazame and Diamante broaden the repertoire towards the end of the album, rather than repeating the opening selection's emphasis.
For teachers, the breadth of songs provides choices when selecting music for a rumba lesson. Social dancers can return to favourites or use a different track to vary the atmosphere of a practice session. The complete ordered track list includes recording credits and individual durations, making it easy to identify a song and compare its length before building a playlist. This is a rumba music collection, rather than a spoken dance-instruction programme.
