Six professional partnerships bring different approaches to the five International Latin dances in the 2010 Asian Open Latin Championship. Filmed at Budokan in Tokyo, the finals feature Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. The emphasis is on competition performances, with complete dances rather than an instructional lesson sequence.
The production used six cameras, each assigned to a different couple. Its catalogue describes footage assembled to show six performances of each dance. That filming approach gives the collection particular interest for viewers who want to follow a partnership’s dancing beyond a few isolated moments and observe how its presentation develops over a full dance.
The finalist programme includes Riccardo Cocchi and Yulia Zagoruychenko, Franco Formica and Oxana Lebedew, Sergey Surkov and Melia, Slavik Kryklyvyy and Anna Melnikova, Andrej Skufca and Melinda, and Markus Homm and Ksenia Kasper. Seeing these partnerships within one event offers dance enthusiasts and competitors material for observing musical interpretation, movement choices and performance character across the Latin programme.
Japanese and English commentary accompanies the approximately 74-minute recording. The MP4 Video presents this historical competition selection for viewing and observation. Disc-specific menu controls are not promised for the digital version. The complete documented finalist list is retained below.
