Ross Mitchell – 30 Top Foxtrots

Product Description

From Smoke Gets In Your Eyes to Smile, 30 Top Foxtrots offers a substantial repertoire for dancers who want to spend a session on Foxtrot without hearing the same few melodies repeatedly. The selection moves between romantic standards, songs associated with the stage and more contemporary familiar tunes. Manhattan, Fly Me To The Moon and A Nightingale Sang In Berkeley Square share the programme with Isn't She Lovely, Moondance and Jimmy Mack, giving the collection several different points of entry for listeners.

The recording credits are an important part of this edition's character. Ross Mitchell appears throughout, alongside Lynn Garner, Tony Crane, Ian Clifton, CFD, the Dance And Listen Orchestra, Peter Walton and the Parallel 2 Orchestra. That variety makes the album useful when choosing music around a dancer's response to a particular voice or arrangement, rather than selecting on title alone. Out Of Nowhere / Once In A While and Time Medley also offer longer musical combinations within individual listed entries.

For Foxtrot students and teachers, the practical attraction is the range of material within a single category. The complete thirty-entry list keeps each credited recording easy to identify, so favourites can be returned to during practice and alternatives selected for a change of mood. The individual credits also keep the different contributions within this collection visible.
