Ballroom Stars 1 (2CD)

Product Description

Ballroom Stars 1 is Casa Musica’s 2007 Standard dance compilation, with 44 source-listed tracks. The programme begins with twelve slow waltzes, followed by ten tangos, ten slowfox selections, six quicksteps and five Viennese waltzes. A live recording of Bye Bye Blackbird by Sammy Davis Jr. closes the collection as an additional slowfox choice.

The waltz selections include performers such as Clinton Gregory, Ishtar, Aoife Ní Fhearraigh, Pat Boone and 101 Strings. Their differing vocal and orchestral approaches give the opening section more variety than a collection based around one ensemble. Malando features prominently in the tango programme, which forms a separate group before the swing-oriented dances.

Slowfox credits include Sammy Davis Jr., Mel Tormé, Nina Simone and Coleman Hawkins. The later sections add quicksteps and Viennese waltzes, with Dean Martin among the featured names. The final bonus remains at the end of the original sequence, so the collection’s main five-dance arrangement and its extra selection are easy to distinguish.

For practice planning or social ballroom use, the supplied dance labels, tempo notation and individual timings provide a direct way to select a track. Artist, language and musical-style information further distinguish the versions included. This is a multi-artist music anthology, and the full track list preserves each recording’s credit and position.
