American Smooth – Open Silver Foxtrot Variations is an instructional program featuring Michael Mead & Toni Redpath, presenting eight creative Open Silver combinations for dancers who already have a solid understanding of Silver-level American Smooth Foxtrot.
Running approximately 71 minutes, the program moves beyond basic syllabus material to explore more sophisticated choreography using Shadow positions, alternate holds, Hairpins, Grapevines, Pivots, Wrap actions, Contra Check, Rondé actions, and position changes.
The eight variations include Shadow Hairpin, Curved 3 Step & Hairpin in Alternate Hold, Shadow Weave, Shimmy Walks & Overturn Wrap, Underarm Pass to Check, Fallaway Contra Check & Pivots, Advanced Shadow Grapevines, and Side by Side Switching Grapevines.
Variations 1–4 and 5–8 are also reviewed in routine format, helping dancers understand how individual combinations can be connected into longer sequences. The material provides useful ideas for developing more varied and expressive Foxtrot choreography for social dancing, showcases, and competition routines.
This program is intended for dancers who are comfortable with their Silver fundamentals and are ready to explore Open Silver material rather than review basic patterns.
