Product Description

Too Darn Hot links a mixed Ballroom and Latin programme through songs that evoke sunshine, holidays and summer evenings. The opening Cha Cha pair, Sunshine Day and Cruel Summer, leads into the Sambas Club Tropicana and Holiday. Under The Boardwalk and Farewell My Summer Love supply the Rumba section before Summertime Blues and Fun In The Sun change the emphasis to Jive. The theme therefore gives the album continuity without restricting it to one rhythm.

The Standard selections are equally specific. Here Comes Summer and the title track are listed as Quicksteps, The Summer Knows and A Hot Summer Night as Waltzes, and Summertime and Beach Baby as Slowfox. Summernight City provides the Tango, while Summer–The First Time closes the programme as a Viennese Waltz. Each song keeps its documented dance and numeric tempo notation in the track list, allowing a teacher or dancer to select the relevant recording without inferring its rhythm from the song title.

With sixteen entries credited to CFD in the original programme, the collection is a practical option for a session that moves between dance categories but maintains a recognisable musical theme. Its interest lies in the way familiar summer repertoire is assigned to contrasting dance uses. The pairing of a summer theme with multiple dance categories makes it particularly easy to browse by either song or rhythm.
